Just a moment ago I listened to the NPR report. They described him as 'controversial', etc. But they did not mention his role as Saudi lobbyist!

No, he has not been appointed yet.

Shalom:

I don't think that Chas has been appointed just yet. Nominated, yes. AIPAC and other lobbies may be able to ensure that he is not confirmed.

Possibly. Unless you know something else. I would not give up hope yet. Plus, the Obama administration should be concerned about having someone in that position who can last for the entire term, or two, and Chas looks like he is one Boughasha away from cardiac arrest.

This is the most worrisome of all Obama's appointments so far. Does he want as his intelligence gatekeeper someone essentially hostile to Israel? If he does, then we are truly in big trouble. For it indicates that all his talk about caring for Israel's security is a fake, or rather that he perceives Israel's security in the way that Walt- Mearsheimer do. i.e. His aim will be to diminish Israel to scale it down , to weaken it so that it 'fits' into the area.
What is most disturbing to me is that it is hard for me to believe that President Obama does not know who Freeman is, and what he will get from him.
Again if that is truly the case, then I personally consider myself to have been a total fool to this point in trusting the President. All his great abilities which I thought of as assets for us may turn out to be sources of danger and liability.
Again, this is worrisome in the extreme.
