Umm Nidal

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Recently a friend of mine responded to my post “396 Fresno residents support suicide bombers“. This is what she said:

Maybe one of the questions that should be posed to those who support suicide bombings is whether they would send their children on such a mission. Someone should put together a role play showing the process and have the kids and their parents go through it. I suspect you wouldn’t get many takers. It’s like any kind of war – send the kids of others.

I don’t think so. Here is a video, courtesy of Palestinian Media Watch, which shows a mother saying goodbye to her 17-year old son, wishing him Godspeed as it were, as he leaves on his suicide mission. Here is a little about the woman, known as Umm Nidal, and her son’s mission:

Maryam Mohammad Yousif Farhat (Arabic: مريم محمد يوسف فرحات) (or Mariam Farahat; born in 1950), popularly known as Umm Nidal, “the mother of Nidal” or “the mother of struggle”, is one of Hamas’ most popular candidates elected in the Palestinian legislative election, 2006. She sent three of her six sons on Hamas suicide missions against Israel.

She attracted public attention after being filmed joyously preparing and advising her 17-year old son Muhammad Farhat for his March 2002 suicide attack against Israeli civilians. After infiltrating the Gaza Strip former Jewish settlement of Atzmona, opening fire on the students and throwing hand grenades at the school where they were studying, killing five teenagers and wounding 23 others, he was shot dead. Upon hearing of her son’s death, she celebrated proclaiming “Allahu Akbar!” and giving out boxes of halva and chocolates. — Wikipedia

With all due respect, my friend doesn’t know the creatures she’s dealing with.

Palestinian education for peace

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Here is a video showing the way the Palestinians educate their children for peace. It was originally on Youtube, but was so horrifying to civilized people that it was deleted. Thanks to the intrepid bloggers at Little Green Footballs, there is a copy!

No, there’s no violence or anything. If you haven’t seen this yet, you must watch it.

Disproportionate force needed to stop Qassam murders

Monday, May 28th, 2007

YNet (AP):

Abu Marzouk

“The Qassam attacks from Gaza are one of the means we are using to resist the occupation by the Jewish state,” said Moussa Abu Marzouk, deputy head of Hamas’ political bureau.

In case there’s still anyone left who thinks that they mean the occupied territories, the murderer pictured is talking about the existence of the entire state of Israel.

Ten Qassams were fired into Israel today. How can it be that a country with F-16’s and nuclear weapons cannot protect her citizens from a nation of primitive murderers armed with crude weapons, which has declared total war on her?

Elementary psychology, which every police officer knows, is that violence has to be met with a massive and disproportionate response to shock the perpetrator into stopping. Tit-for-tat slaps don’t work.

Funeral of Oshri OzThe woman in this picture is the sister of Oshri Oz, who was murdered yesterday in Sderot by Palestinians who fired one of numerous Qassam missiles. She is saying goodbye to her 36-year old brother, who also left a pregnant wife and 2-year old daughter.

Why didn’t her country use enough force to protect him, and why doesn’t it crush the nation of murderers that killed him?

Qassam blitz takes another life in Sderot

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Oshri OzOshri Oz, a 36-year old computer technician, was killed while working in Sderot when a Qassam missile struck near his car. Oz was the father of a two-year old girl; his pregnant wife learned that he’d been killed when she saw an internet video and recognized the car.
